Project Idea
The Flemish Institute for Technological Research, VITO, is currently preparing a study on the Best Available Techniques (BAT) for dental practices, focusing on amalgam (mercury) containing waste water. The study is commissioned by the Flemish Government. Within the scope of this study, we are gathering information on: • the applied techniques for preventing / controlling mercury emissions via waste water, • the achieved mercury emission levels, • the current environmental regulation, etc. In search for information, we were told about a Life Project on dental amalgam and the decontamination of amalgam containing piping in dental offices (although the scope might be broader). I have no additional information. Does this project sound familiar to you? If you do not have access to this type of information, can you than bring me in contact with one of your colleagues who might have information? If there is indeed a Life project on dental amalgam, it would be very interesting in knowing more about it.
